The objective is to acquire the basic techniques of navigation by progressive learning in order to be able to maneuver a boat safely.
The boat: A schooner type Fillao (9m):
Stable boat with plenty of clearance for easy maneuvering.
The program : At the beginning of the course, the monitor evaluates the level of each and defines a program for the week on the following possibilities:
Driving the boat at different speeds
Adjustment of sails at different speeds - Harbor maneuvers (departure and arrival at sail and engine)
Safety maneuvers (Man overboard) - Boot intake, safety grip...
Chart reading - Using the VHF
Theoretical documents are added to the navigation course. At the end of the internship, a booklet is given to each trainee. This booklet makes it possible to evaluate the level acquired during the week in relation to the criteria defined by the French Sailing Federation.
Which outfit to wear for sailing?
When it’s warm: A shorty wetsuit is recommended and if you do not have one: shorts, tee-shirt will be ok, plastic sandals or trainers, hat or cap, sun cream and windbreaker jacket (depending on the weather). Provide a change of clothes with shower products (towel, shower gel).
When it’s cold: A wetsuit is recommended for light sailing, if you do not have one: a pair of sports trousers, a fleece type sweater, a pair of old
trainers and windbreaker jacket (depending on the weather) will do.
Lockers:
For your comfort, the Nautical Centre offers separate women's and men's changing rooms with individual showers. For your safety, the Nautical Centre provides you lockers for personal belongings.
